Consulting, training and backstopping services in the private sector development component of ecbp (GIZ) in Ethiopia

In the framework of one of the largest projects of development cooperation, we support the private sector development component of the "Engineering Capacity Building Program (ecbp)" in Ethiopia. Our process oriented training and advisory services assist GIZ and its partners in setting up and managing regional economic development approaches in 4 regions of the country.
We support local stakeholders to improve the business and investment climate, foster cooperation amongst the different actors, improve service delivery and thus contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the local economy. This is based on jointly developed economic promotion strategies and a shared vision amongst stakeholders. The process design is as important as picking the right tools to foster economic development such as investment promotion, business start-up support, service market development and Public Private Partnerships. Experiences from other countries in building reform measures and carrying out improvement processes are constantly fed into the advice of the Ethiopian counterparts, as the country aims at making use of international best practices. Assistance in project planning of value chain upgrading initiatives, organizational development of key organizations as well as backstopping services to the program management of ecbp round up our services.
Meanwhile, we also assisted ecbp c4 in setting up a results-based management and monitoring system that allows program management to handle the rising complexity in seven Key Issues implemented in four regions with a total staff of 60-80.
